Maria was such a fantastic host for our family of 4 in Oia. She went out of her way to accommodate our travel dates, and we ended up staying in two different units. Both units were stunning, quaint, and clean – and the wine, fresh fruit, and breakfasts were a very nice amenity. Each location provided those unbelievably breathtaking views of Santorini. My family loved the Paradise Cave Home that overlooked the Caldera with the private jacuzzi on the patio. And, we equally enjoyed the Helios Cave Home where the windows open up to some amazing views and where overlooking the sunsets on the sea from our private patio area was a dream come true. The front door is a major photo opp for tourists- but that did not bother us at all. We spent the evenings on the private patio, enjoying the island wine provided by Maria along with some appetizers while the sun set and the crowds around us cheered. Not only were the views outside stunning, the interior of the home was equally as stunning (there are no doors in the cave home except for the bathroom area). Maria is an artist and you can see her works and artistic touches throughout both homes. We had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, including a lovely breakfast each morning which was delivered fresh by Sunil – and always with a smile. Sunil was an amazing man with such a good heart and always wanting to help. Navigating our way to the homes would have been impossible without him and his brute strength, lugging our bags to and from each unit. Maria helped us pre-arrange for a rental car (we used Sunbird car rental – picked up the car at the airport and dropped it off at the port). It was a little confusing understanding where to park and meet Sunil so that he could take us to the home, but he was easily reached by phone (however, one tip… bring his and Maria’s phone numbers with you and not locked on your computer!). It was nice to have a car and be able to explore around the island, however, in order to avoid the crowds at night we found it best to be back around 4 to find parking before the crowds arrive. We had a very lovely meal at Karma one evening. Maria was an exceptional host for our stay and the units were incredible… we can’t wait to return.
